Tie-Dye With a Twist

In May the Explorers learned that sometimes “permanent” ink really isn’t, and they found that this can be exploited to make some pretty cool designs on fabric.

"Permanent" Ink? Not Quite

On a muddy and windy day that delayed our planned rocket launches (just like NASA, we have some tight weather parameters!) the Explorers turned instead to an activity that allowed them to create some truly unique shirts for themselves.

Like, totally groovy and far out, man

Everybody knows that Sharpies are “permanent” markers—and permanent means once the ink is on something, it’s nearly impossible to get it off, right?

Well, not quite. The Explorers learned in April 2010 how to do a variation of the classic tie-dying activity with Sharpies and rubbing alcohol.
